Hello, and welcome to "Poetic Versus." This is a blog that will be focusing on what I'd like to call "Conflict Poetry" -- poetry that is written in response to social issues like war, political struggle, civil unrest, and so on. We'll explore how poets respond to crises in the written word, profile the poets themselves, comment on larger social movements that inform "conflict poetry," and even look at things like rally chants and other uses of verse to solidify, inspire, or incite crowds.

In the coming days, I'll be posting poems and other articles, and all thoughtful commentary is welcomed!
